Directors Statement

The reason why I decided to tell this true family story, is because it symbolizes the lives of millions of women from the same era who were silenced. It describes a society marked by inequality between men and women where they were forced from childhood to assume responsibilities of adulthood. Girls, born into humble families, who did not have access to a basic education, because they had to take care of the housework, work in the fields, or take care of their younger siblings, adopting the role of mothers. Women who suffered sexual abuse throughout their childhood, most at the hands of relatives, and were forced into silence. A time in history, which marked many of our grandmothers and mothers, and which conditioned their way of educating ourselves and seeing the world.
This short film, in each of its scenes, will remind us where we come from, and the long way we still have to travel as women, as a society, and as human beings.
