Directors Statement
Aydan & Evan started from this disconnection I had with myself and my future. While reflecting on this, I was heavily influenced by themes of romance and memory and how they are portrayed in film. From this, I started writing the script, centring the story on my own experience of feeling lost, detached from myself, and how this could be explored through romance. Desire, as well as the memory of desire and how it lingers on your mind, almost obsessively, became the driving force of the story. I wanted the audience to not only feel the desire, but the hope desire brings to the protagonist for a fresh start.
